Fungi, Metals & Minerals: A talk by Prof. Gadd
November 29, 2022 @ 1:00 pm UTC
Join the Mycology Society and Geography and Environmental Sciences society for a crossover event!
Professor Geoffrey Gadd will speak about fungi and their potential in transforming metals and minerals and the potential applications of these processes in pollutant treatment, metal recovery and biodeterioration – using examples from his team’s research over the years. Head of the Geomicrobiology group at Dundee Uni and former President of the British Mycology Society, Prof. Gadd and his team coined the term ‘mycoremediation’, which is a process in which fungi helps decontaminate the environment from pollutants. With too many awards to list here (check his profile on the Uni website!) we’re honoured to have Prof. Gadd have a talk for our societes in a field where he is so influential, and a field which seems so vital for the future of our environment.
Attendance is free for members of both societes, but sign-up is required. Time, Date and Location below:
29th September 13:00, Dalhousie 2G11, Lecture Theatre 4
See yous there!
